Sad to see isolation in a crowd

The first time I saw this gentleman was a few weeks ago whilst I was wandering around one of the many small, city gardens in Maidstone.
It was raining and he sat on one of the benches staring nowhere. He looked lost and somewhat forlorn but engaged in no eye contact as I passed.
His energy felt sad and drained reflecting the dampness of the weather.
Today, whilst enjoying a lunch of udon noodles and tofu, I saw him again.
The two ladies arrived after him and even though he looked towards them and offered a smile, they failed to engage in chatter.
The image became even more sad (in my eyes) when two more ladies came along and spotting those seated, stood and had an animated conversation filled with laughter.
On several occasions he looked across but was never included or even acknowledged.
Loneliness in the elderly. How sad.

Laundry's little helper

I wonder if many know what this is?  I had one.  It was made by Hotpoint and lasted for well over 10 years. I used it frequently...
